Manisa commemorates 101st anniversary of Atatürk’s visit
Commemorative ceremonies were held in Manisa to mark the 101st anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s visit to the city. The program began at the historic Manisa Train Station with a symbolic reception of the train that originally brought Atatürk to the region.
The event was attended by Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Besim Dutlulu, military officials, local deputies, and various civil society representatives. Following a traditional Zeybek folk dance performance, a procession moved from the station to Cumhuriyet Square.
At Cumhuriyet Square, wreaths were laid at the Atatürk and National Sovereignty Monument. During the ceremony, Mayor Besim Dutlulu spoke about the historical significance of the 1925 visit and the importance of preserving the fundamental values of the Republic for future generations. The program also included readings of historical speeches exchanged between Atatürk and the city's leadership during his original visit.
