Manisa implements 4,000 TL fines for littering
Manisa Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new initiative to combat littering and increase environmental awareness throughout the city. Mayor Besim Dutlulu announced the deployment of a 10-person bicycle police team designed to patrol streets, parks, and pedestrian zones, particularly in narrow areas difficult for motorized vehicles to access.
To ensure transparency and real-time detection, the bicycle officers are equipped with body cameras. Under the Misdemeanor Law, individuals caught littering in public spaces, such as sidewalks and streets, will be subject to an administrative fine of 4,000 TL. Mayor Dutlulu stated that the primary goal of the zero-tolerance policy is to maintain the cleanliness of Manisa rather than simply issuing penalties.
