Manisa, Turkey Becomes Hub for Pet Food Production

Manisa province, specifically the Salihli district, hosts pet‑food factories that supply roughly 78 % of Turkey’s cat and dog food. Deputy Director General of the Food and Control General Directorate, Erkan Alkan, led a delegation that visited the Hermos plant, accompanied by officials Dr Ali Gök, Hakan Özcanoğlu, Murat Yasak and technical staff.

During the inspection the team observed production lines for canned, wet and dry pet food, reviewed quality‑control procedures, hygiene standards, research‑and‑development activities and discussed the plants’ export potential. Officials stressed Manisa’s strategic role in meeting domestic demand and supporting Turkey’s pet‑food exports, highlighting the region’s strong manufacturing infrastructure.

The visit was part of a broader Manisa programme aimed at evaluating the sector’s capacity and future growth prospects.
