Manish Honwad appointed Director and Commandant of AFMC Pune
Surgeon Vice Admiral Manish Honwad has assumed the role of Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune.
An alumnus of AFMC, Honwad completed his MBBS in 1989 and his MD in Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine in 1998. His extensive career includes a WHO fellowship in Neuro-Anaesthesiology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and an M. Phil in Public Administration from the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
With over 37 years of service, Honwad has held various senior positions within the Armed Forces Medical Services, including serving as Additional Director General Medical Services (Navy) at Naval Headquarters. He has also served as Commanding Officer of the Indian Naval Hospitals Ship (INHS) Sanjivani and INHS Asvini. He is a certified healthcare simulation educator and has received the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for his service.
