Manish Sisodia detained during protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was detained by Punjab Police in Chandigarh during a protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration, which included support for the youth-led Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), called for the resignation of the CEC over allegations of electoral manipulation and vote theft.

During the protest, Sisodia and Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema were among several leaders detained as tensions rose near the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Sisodia alleged that the BJP has been winning elections by manipulating voter lists, citing a claim that 40,000 votes were removed from Arvind Kejriwal’s constituency in a previous Delhi election.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the police action and the central government, describing the current political climate as worse than an emergency. He accused the administration of using the police system to suppress democratic rights and voices protesting against alleged electoral fraud.
