Manish Tewari dismisses possibility of Pakistan extraditing terrorists to India

Congress MP Manish Tewari has dismissed the possibility of Pakistan extraditing terrorists to India for trial, calling such expectations an ‘imaginary proposition’. His comments follow reports that India intends to use diplomatic channels to summon Hafiz Saeed, a Pakistan-based terrorist identified by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as the mastermind behind the Pahalgam terror attack.

A Jammu court recently issued a non-bailable warrant against Saeed, a UN-designated terrorist, following an application by the NIA. The court noted that arrest and custodial interrogation of the accused are necessary.

Tewari cited the aftermath of the 26/11 attacks, noting that despite Pakistan admitting involvement, no significant legal action was taken against the perpetrators. He argued that the only effective response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism is a strong reaction, while legal processes continue to move forward.
