Manisha Koirala celebrates 56th birthday and career milestones

Actress Manisha Koirala is celebrating her 56th birthday. Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, to a prominent political family—including her grandfather, former Prime Minister Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala—she transitioned from Nepali cinema to becoming a major figure in Bollywood.

Koirala debuted in the 1991 film ‘Saudagar’ and achieved significant success with films such as ‘1942: A Love Story’, ‘Bombay’, and ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’. She has also received critical acclaim, including a Filmfare Critics Best Actress Award for her role in ‘Company’. Recently, she gained attention for her performance as Mallikajaan in the series ‘Heeramandi’.

Her personal life has seen significant challenges, including a diagnosis of stage-4 ovarian cancer in 2012. After undergoing treatment in New York, she successfully overcame the illness and has since become an advocate for cancer awareness. She was married to Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal in 2010, but the couple divorced in 2012. She currently lives a single life.
