Manitoba fatal collision kills four teenagers

Four teenagers died and four others were hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision near Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba. The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Highway 229 and Highway 8.

According to the RCMP, a car traveling westbound on Highway 229 was struck by a southbound van while crossing Highway 8. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch, with one vehicle rolling onto its roof. The four occupants of the car—three 18-year-olds from Manitoba, including the female driver, and a 17-year-old from Ontario—died at the scene.

The four occupants of the van, including a 49-year-old man, a woman, and two children, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. A traffic reconstructionist is currently assisting the RCMP with the investigation at the intersection, which is equipped with stop signs.
