Manitoba Liquor Marts remove American alcohol products

Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries is removing American alcohol products from its 63 Liquor Mart locations. The inventory, which had briefly returned to shelves in May as part of a “last chance” sale, is being moved back into storage or slated for destruction.

The removal follows a provincewide boycott of American alcohol launched by Premier Wab Kinew in March 2025. The boycott was initiated in response to tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. While the Crown corporation has not placed new orders for U.S. products since the boycott began, it has been working to off-load existing stockpiles.

As of early May, the value of the U.S. liquor inventory was approximately $3.4 million. A spokesperson for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries stated that the organization is currently working through the logistics of removing the products and determining how to handle the remaining inventory.
