Manitowoc expands Grove Wire Rope Cleaner compatibility

Manitowoc has redesigned its Grove Wire Rope Cleaner to increase compatibility across different crane brands and rope sizes. Following feedback from its ‘Voice of the Customer’ program, the tool has been updated to accommodate wire ropes ranging from 12 mm to 38 mm in diameter, regardless of the rope lay.

While the initial version was specifically sized for Grove mobile cranes, the new design allows the cleaner to be used on any crane brand. This update is intended to benefit rental companies and contractors operating mixed fleets by providing a single tool and procedure for rope maintenance.

The Wire Rope Cleaner uses a two-stage process to remove contaminants and force grease into the rope, which helps extend rope life, reduce lubricant consumption, and improve maintenance efficiency compared to manual methods. The update is part of Manitowoc’s CRANES+50 strategy, which focuses on increasing value throughout the lifecycle of the crane.
