Manitowoc Police Department Hosts National Night Out at Public Library

The Manitowoc Police Department partnered with the Manitowoc Public Library to hold a National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event, aimed at strengthening ties between law‑enforcement and residents, offered families a variety of safety‑focused activities.

Children could join a scavenger hunt to earn school supplies donated by Walmart, receive free child‑identification kits, and explore emergency vehicles displayed by police and fire personnel. Officer Schleis demonstrated the capabilities of his K‑9 partner, Rolo, in searches for missing persons and contraband, while a drone showcase highlighted modern policing tools. Local groups, including Manitowoc County 4‑H, provided animal interactions, and numerous community organizations shared information on child and family safety.

The gathering emphasized community engagement and public‑safety education, with participation from the Manitowoc Crime Prevention Committee, Neighborhood Watch, TRIAD Committee, and other city agencies.
