Various municipal environmental and community initiatives across Latin America and Spain

Multiple municipalities are implementing local environmental and social programs. In Manizales, Colombia, the Secretary of Environment recognized various citizens and organizations for their sustainability efforts during the third Environmental Initiatives Ceremony.

In Argentina, the city of Corrientes concluded a recycling competition where 11 schools collected over 9,000 kilograms of paper, cardboard, and plastic. Similarly, in San Pedro de Jujuy, students participated in a reforestation project to strengthen urban greenery.

Other regional activities include a tree-planting drive in Aracataca, Colombia, supported by Corpamag, and a beach cleaning operation in Mazatlán, Mexico, which removed 120 kilograms of waste, primarily cigarette butts and microplastics. In Potosí, Bolivia, the “Mi Ciudad Limpia” campaign was launched to promote urban cleanliness.

Social and community events were also noted, such as a peace mural project and municipal service fair in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and a recreational day for children in the Rómulo Gallegos municipality, Venezuela. In Salamanca, Spain, a volunteer program is monitoring the growth of disease-resistant elm trees planted since 2019.
