Manizales authorities urge expiration checks on donated medicines

The Risk Management Unit (UGR) of Manizales has issued an urgent request for citizens to verify the expiration dates of donated medications following the earthquake on August 10. Authorities reported that several batches of expired or damaged drugs have been received during the classification process, posing a public health risk and delaying effective aid delivery.

Diego Armando Rivera Gutiérrez, director of the UGR Manizales, recommended that all donated medicines have an expiration date of at least six months remaining. Valid medical supplies can be delivered to the Red Cross and other designated collection points to assist families affected by the seismic event.
