Manizales City Council approves tax relief for emergency reconstruction

The Manizales City Council has unanimously approved Agreement 092, a measure designed to provide tax relief to citizens affected by recent emergencies and to accelerate the city's reconstruction.

According to Natalia Díaz Jurado, the municipal Secretary of Finance, the package focuses on three primary pillars: the exemption of a 4.5% stamp tax on funds used for contingency response, the suspension of property tax payments for properties slated for demolition until their cadastral status is regularized, and the creation of construction incentives to facilitate new housing on cleared lots.

Councilman Jorge Eliécer Galeano noted that the decision provides the municipal administration with essential tools to stimulate economic and infrastructure reactivation by easing taxes such as urban delineation fees and supporting both private sector and affected families.
