Manizales earthquake victims participate in baking workshop
Twenty children affected by the earthquake on August 10 participated in a “baker for a day” workshop at the Universidad Autónoma de Manizales (UAM) gastronomy kitchens. Promoted by the Manizales Mayor's Office, the initiative aimed to provide a space for learning, fun, and well-being to help children escape their daily routines while their families deal with the aftermath of the seismic event.
During the session, participants learned from Manolo Betancur, a renowned Colombian baker based in the United States and founder of Manolo’s Bakery and the foundation “Por las manos de los inmigrantes.” Betancur returned to his home country to share his expertise and offer a message of hope to those impacted by the tragedy.
