Manizales launches 2026 survey to optimize public transport

The city of Manizales has launched the 2026 Origin-Destination Survey, a technical study led by the Manizales Mobility Secretariat to update data regarding how residents move throughout the city. Fieldwork for the project began in February 2026.

The study aims to collect comprehensive data on trip starting and ending points, schedules, reasons for travel, and modes of transport used. This information will serve as a technical basis for future decisions regarding collective public transport, including potential modifications to routes, frequencies, coverage, and vehicle quantities.

Beyond bus usage, the local government intends to analyze how collective transport interacts with other mobility components, such as the aerial cable system. The resulting origin-destination matrix will allow planners to compare travel demand with the current supply of services.
