Manju Warrier files defamation suit against filmmaker Sanalkumar Sasidharan

Malayalam actress Manju Warrier has filed a defamation suit and an injunction petition in the Ernakulam Munsiff Court against filmmaker Sanalkumar Sasidharan. The legal action seeks to restrain Sasidharan from publishing defamatory content against her on social media and other platforms.

The court has issued an interim injunction against Sasidharan and served official notices to Meta Platforms Inc. and YouTuber Shajan Scaria to respond regarding the removal of allegedly defamatory content. Warrier’s legal team is seeking to disable access to specific posts, videos, and audio recordings that target her reputation.

The dispute follows claims made by Sasidharan during an indefinite hunger strike outside the Kerala Secretariat, where he alleged that Warrier was involved with a “sex mafia/racket”. Warrier’s lawyers noted that Sasidharan has allegedly continued to publish objectionable material despite previous criminal proceedings initiated against him in 2022 and 2023.
