Manly Sea Eagles face multimillion‑dollar lawsuit over 2020 heat‑stroke death

The family of former Manly Sea Eagles player Keith Titmuss has launched a multimillion‑dollar claim in the NSW Supreme Court after a coronial inquest concluded he died of exertional heat stroke during a pre‑season training session on 23 November 2020. Court documents allege the club failed to follow its own heat‑policy, leaving the indoor dojo without air‑conditioning and with large fans turned off, despite high humidity and a demanding cardio circuit.

The claim also references a prior lawsuit by former player Lloyd Perrett, who alleges he suffered heat‑stroke, a seizure and psychiatric injury during a 2017 training session. The club’s doctor, Dr Luke Inman, had previously drafted a heat‑policy after the Perrett incident. Manly Sea Eagles are defending both actions, asserting that staff monitored the session and that the back doors of the dojo were open.
