Mannheim council member proposes swingers party at city hall
Julian Ferrat, a 35-year-old municipal council member for the Die Mannheimer party in Mannheim, Germany, has proposed hosting a swingers party at the city hall. Ferrat argues that group sex involving council members would represent the “ultimate form of closeness with citizens” and aims to break social taboos.
His broader vision is to transform Mannheim into a “swingers paradise,” similar to the French resort Cap d’Agde, to boost tourism and local revenue. Ferrat claims there is no existing legislation prohibiting such events in municipal buildings. He noted that approximately 50 residents have already expressed interest in the proposal.
While Ferrat intends to meet with interested citizens to verify their intentions, local authorities have expressed serious doubts regarding the legality and appropriateness of the event. The municipal council, which is currently controlled by the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU), would need to grant permission for the proposal to proceed.
