Mannheim councilor proposes swing party at city hall

Julien Ferrat, an independent city councilor in Mannheim, Germany, has proposed hosting a swing party at the local city hall. Ferrat, 35, argued that the central location of the town hall would be ideal and noted that there are no local laws or internal rules explicitly prohibiting such an event.

Ferrat suggested the initiative could serve as an extreme way to bring citizens and politicians closer together and potentially boost the local economy. He claimed approximately 50 people had already expressed interest in the event.

The Mannheim municipal administration has blocked the proposal and prevented Ferrat from publishing an announcement in the city's official gazette titled ‘a nudist-swinger paradise for Mannheim’. Authorities rejected the plan due to a lack of concrete details, such as a specific date and room, and questioned the relevance of the event to the councilor's official mandate. A municipal spokesperson stated that there are significant doubts regarding the legality and feasibility of the plans based on the rudimentary information provided.
