Mannheim police conduct youth‑protection cannabis checks
On Monday afternoon through the evening, the Mannheim‑Innenstadt police precinct carried out intensified checks aimed at enforcing the German Consumption Cannabis Act in areas frequented by children, such as playgrounds, school yards, parks and pedestrian zones. Officers in both civilian and uniform attire inspected 49 individuals.
The operation resulted in eight violations, including three breaches of the cannabis consumption law and one of the narcotics law. Five people received place bans, and a man suspected of trafficking cocaine was taken into provisional detention. Police said the actions were intended to warn consumers and sanction offences to protect minors.
