Mannheim police investigate suspected sale of stolen gold jewelry
Police in Mannheim are investigating a suspected case of receiving stolen goods after a woman attempted to sell gold jewelry to a local jeweler.
On May 11, an unidentified woman visited a jeweler in the Mannheim city center, offering various pieces of gold jewelry for a total value of 15,000 euros. Because the woman was unable to provide identification, the jeweler provided only a down payment and requested that she return the following day with her documents.
The woman did not return, leading authorities to believe the jewelry may be the proceeds of a crime. The Criminal Investigation Department for Property Crimes in Heidelberg has taken over the investigation and is seeking witnesses who can provide information regarding the jewelry or its origins.
