Mannheim to host panel on AI and gender equality
A panel discussion titled ‘New Technologies, Old Patterns? AI and Equality in the Working World’ is scheduled for October 23, 2026, in Mannheim, Germany. Part of the Baden-Württemberg Women's Business Days 2026, the event will address how artificial intelligence impacts gender equality and economic development.
Key topics include the potential for biased data patterns to disadvantage women in areas such as employment, medical diagnoses, credit, and facial recognition. The discussion will also explore the ‘Gender AI Gap,’ noting that women use AI significantly less frequently than men both in Germany and globally.
The event features an impulse lecture by Professor Dr. Petra Nieken from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) regarding the future of work and technological change. The subsequent panel will include industry practitioners such as Moorlyn Sünert, Dr. Silvia Schacht, and carpenter Hannah Scheurer.
