Manoj Bajpayee discusses women-led films in Bollywood

Actor Manoj Bajpayee has commented on the evolving gender dynamics within the Hindi film industry, noting that women have been successfully leading films for several years. He cited actresses Vidya Balan and Kajol as key examples of performers who have challenged the traditional male-dominated structure of mainstream cinema by carrying films on their shoulders.

Bajpayee attributed the acceleration of this shift to the rise of OTT platforms. He noted that streaming services provide more frequent opportunities for women-led narratives because the financial stakes are lower compared to theatrical productions. Additionally, he observed that these platforms have provided greater recognition and stability for actors, including men, who previously struggled to find substantial roles in mainstream cinema.
