Manoj Bajpayee to play Mahatma Gandhi in Sudhir Mishra film
Actor Manoj Bajpayee has begun filming a new historical drama directed by Sudhir Mishra, in which he will portray Mahatma Gandhi for the first time. The film, working title ‘Gandhi and My Mother’, focuses on a specific 21-day period during India’s independence movement rather than providing a full biographical sweep.
Production has officially commenced with outdoor shooting taking place in the Narhi area of Lucknow. To ensure historical authenticity, the production is recreating the 1940s era using vintage cars, period-accurate costumes, and old-style signboards.
The project is produced by Anubhav Sinha under the Benaras Mediaworks banner, alongside Narendra Hirawat, and is presented by NH Studioz. The cast includes Saurabh Shukla and Divya Dutta.
