Manolis Siopis departs Panathinaikos for Turkish club
Greek international defender Manolis Siopis is set to leave Panathinaikos as negotiations with a Turkish Super Lig side reach a final stage. The move is expected to be completed within hours and will be a free transfer, with no compensation paid to the Greek club. Siopis, who joined Panathinaikos in January 2024 on a contract running to summer 2027, made 52 appearances for the team. His departure will free up a substantial portion of the club’s wage bill.
Siopis has previously played in Turkey for Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor, and the return to a familiar league is described as a “homecoming”. In the same announcement, Panathinaikos also confirmed the exit of defender Tin Gentvay, who leaves after three seasons with the club.
