Manolo Millares exhibition opens at Fundación Antonio Pérez

The Fundación Antonio Pérez in Cuenca has opened the exhibition ‘Manolo Millares, rebelde’ to commemorate the centenary of the Canarian painter's birth. Curated by Alfonso de la Torre in collaboration with the Millares-Escobio family, the exhibition is hosted in the former convent of the Carmelitas.

The showcase explores the rebellious nature of Millares' work, tracing his journey from Spanish informalism to his later experiments with objects and photography. Key pieces include the ‘Artefactos y Objetos’ installations and the ‘Serie Mussolini’, which uses various visual languages to critique European authoritarianism. The exhibition also features personal documents and photographs detailing his relationship with Elvireta Escobio.
