Manon Vallone killed in Crotone road crash; two women charged over horse custody

On the night of 19 June 2026, a Fiat 500 travelling on State Road 107 near Campodanaro in the province of Crotone struck several horses that had entered the carriageway. The collision killed 46‑year‑old physiotherapist Manon Vallone and injured her boyfriend, who was the vehicle’s driver.

Crotone traffic police, together with the provincial prosecutor’s office, have opened a criminal investigation. Two women – the legal representative of the agricultural company that owns the horses and the mother who runs the farm – have been entered in the register of suspects for alleged omission of custody, recklessness, negligence and impericia, constituting road homicide. The investigation involved site inspections, document collection and technical examinations to determine the origin of the animals and who was responsible for their supervision before the crash.
