Survivor contestant Staurós Flóros shares recovery message after leg amputation
Former Survivor player Staurós Flóros, 22, posted from a Miami rehabilitation centre after a severe accident during the show’s filming in the Cyclades. A tourist boat’s propeller struck him, resulting in the amputation of his right leg and subsequent surgeries on his left leg.
In an Instagram video and photos he smiled and said, “The real strength is to find a way to get up each time life knocks you down.” He added that he is now “stronger, more mature and grateful” and that the episode “is just the beginning of my story.” His father confirmed that the critical operations on the right leg are complete and that doctors will assess the need for another procedure on the left leg.
Fellow contestant Manos Malliaros also posted a tribute, expressing support for Flóros and reflecting on the accident’s impact on the Survivor team.
