Spain: Multiple investigations into homicide, forced marriage, and child abuse

Several criminal investigations are underway in Spain involving serious allegations of violence and exploitation.

In Santa Bàrbara, Tarragona, a judge has ordered provisional imprisonment without bail for the parents of an 18-month-old baby whose remains were discovered in their home. The investigation includes charges of homicide, child abandonment, and animal cruelty, as police also found 28 malnourished dogs and several dead animals at the residence. The judge has also suspended the parents' parental rights over their three other children.

In Gernika-Lumo, the Ertzaintza has arrested three individuals, including the parents of a 14-year-old girl, for allegedly facilitating a forced marriage involving a 27-year-old man. The girl is five months pregnant. The parents face charges of human trafficking for marriage and sexual assault, while the man is being investigated for human trafficking and sexual assault.

Additionally, two minors have been detained in Manresa for the stabbing death of 45-year-old Carles Vilajosana. Both suspects were previously under judicial supervision for unrelated offenses.
