Manresa stabbing sparks political debate in Catalonia
A fatal stabbing in Manresa, Catalonia, has sparked intense political debate regarding immigration and misinformation. The victim, 45-year-old Carles Vilajosana, was killed during a local festival.
Following the incident, social media and political groups, including Vox and Aliança Catalana, circulated claims that the suspects were Maghrebi minors. However, Catalonia's Interior Minister, Núria Parlon, clarified that the two minors detained—aged 15 and 16—were actually born in Catalonia. While one suspect has Moroccan parents, the other has Spanish parents.
The case has reignited discussions over whether police should disclose the ethnic origins of suspects to combat the spread of false information and political polarization.
