Mansion House Accord signatories invest £11.1bn in private markets

Signatories of the Mansion House Accord have invested £11.1 billion in private markets, according to joint tracking by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and Pensions UK. This figure represents more than half of the £22 billion in defined contribution (DC) growth-phase assets invested in global private markets by the 17 participating pension funds.

Of the total private market investment, 3.3% is allocated to UK private markets. The UK sector attracting the most capital is property and real estate, including social and affordable housing, which accounts for £8 billion. Infrastructure follows with £1.3 billion, and private debt and credit represents £0.9 billion.

The Mansion House Accord is a voluntary, industry-led commitment coordinated by the ABI, Pensions UK, and the City of London Corporation. The goal is for signatories to hold 10% of DC pension assets in private markets, including 5% in UK private markets, by 2030. Signatories include Aegon UK, Aon, Aviva, Legal & General, and M&G.
