Mansoor Delane expected to return for Chiefs following shoulder injury
Kansas City Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane is expected to play in the upcoming Sunday night game against the Indianapolis Colts despite a recent shoulder injury. Delane, the sixth overall draft pick, exited Monday night’s 31-10 victory over the Denver Broncos after recording his first career interception against quarterback Bo Nix.
Following the interception, Delane landed hard on his right shoulder, an area that had previously caused issues during training camp. While the injury initially caused concern, medical tests including X-rays and a CT scan returned negative results.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid noted that Delane returned to the practice field on Wednesday and indicated there is a “pretty good chance he’ll be back out there” for the primetime matchup against Indianapolis.
