Mansouri, Lebanon hit by massive explosion attributed to Israeli forces

A massive explosion, reportedly caused by Israeli forces, occurred in the town of Mansouri in southern Lebanon. The blast sent thick columns of gray smoke rising from the heavily damaged coastal town, according to reports from the National News Agency and correspondents in the Tyre region.

The explosion produced strong vibrations that were heard in the city of Tyre, approximately 10 kilometers away, as well as in surrounding villages.

Mansouri is located about 10 kilometers north of the Israeli border. Following a ceasefire agreement in June, the Israeli military controlled parts of the town and a 10-kilometer wide border strip. While residents were told they could return to their homes in late June, they were advised to avoid the Israeli-controlled security zone. In early August, the Israeli military ordered residents to evacuate Mansouri before fully occupying the town, and systematic demolitions have since been carried out in the area.
