Mansouri residents watch Israeli drones demolish homes in southern Lebanon
Displaced residents of Mansouri, a village in southern Lebanon, have been observing the ongoing destruction of their homes by Israeli drones from a nearby vantage point. Following a ceasefire in June, the Israeli military maintains control over large areas of southern Lebanon and continues to conduct controlled demolitions of residences, farms, and infrastructure.
On Friday, Lebanese state media reported that the Israeli military detonated the village’s public school. Displaced villagers, currently residing in the neighboring village of Hanniyeh or elsewhere, expressed frustration toward both the Israeli military and the Lebanese government. Residents, including local farmers and beekeepers, accused the Lebanese state of failing to protect their property and livelihoods, leaving them feeling abandoned.
Reports indicate that over 300,000 individuals remain displaced due to the ongoing conflict. While active fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has moderated, the demolition activities continue to impact the community's ability to return to their homes.
