Mansukh Mandaviya to chair national conference for construction workers

The Indian government, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, is organizing a National Conference on Building and Other Construction Workers in Mumbai on September 11–12. The event will be chaired by Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya.

The conference aims to evaluate the evolving Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) framework following the implementation of new Labour Codes. Key discussion topics include statutory responsibilities, worker registration, welfare fund monitoring, and the use of technology to improve service delivery.

Participants will also review progress on several digital initiatives, including the State BOCW Digital Labour Chowk, Labour Chowk-cum-Facilitation Centres, and the Online BOCW Cess Collection Portal. The gathering intends to facilitate cross-learning among state welfare boards to improve the reach of welfare measures for millions of workers in the construction sector.
