Mansur Yavaş defends meeting with Erdoğan over Ankara investment projects

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş is facing political scrutiny following a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Beştepe. Yavaş defended the meeting, stating it was necessary to discuss Ankara’s major infrastructure and investment projects, including a $1.3 billion metro project and an 800 million euro Treasury bond issuance that require central government approval.

The meeting has sparked significant tension within the opposition. Yavaş has faced criticism from CHP officials, who expressed disappointment over his absence from the party’s 103rd anniversary program. Amid rumors of him leaving the CHP to join the Yeni Parti, Yavaş responded by stating, “Separation is torment, togetherness is mercy,” and emphasized that political divisions at the leadership level should not affect municipal service to the people of Ankara.

Simultaneously, BTSO President İbrahim Burkay met with President Erdoğan to present the Bursa 2030 Vision, detailing projects such as TEKNO-SAB and various organized industrial zones. In other news, Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş launched the ‘İyilik Var Platformu’ (There is Goodness Platform) to strengthen social state services across Turkey.
