Manta woman killed in armed vehicle attack

A 54-year-old woman, Guadalupe Marisol Bravo, died following an armed attack on a vehicle in the La Pradera neighborhood of Manta, Ecuador. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, near the Eurofish company.

Preliminary reports indicate that individuals on a motorcycle intercepted the white vehicle and opened fire. Residents reported hearing at least 15 gunshots. Bravo and her husband were transported to the IESS Hospital in Manta in their vehicle; Bravo was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, while her husband remains hospitalized with a reserved prognosis.

Authorities have apprehended three individuals, including one woman, who were traveling in a taxi during initial investigations. Police are working to determine if these individuals are linked to the crime, as early reports suggest the direct perpetrators escaped on a motorcycle. The Manta district, which includes Montecristi and Jaramijó, has recorded 412 violent deaths so far in 2026.
