Mantova administrators face rising intimidation threats

A report by Avviso Pubblico titled ‘Amministratori sotto tiro’ reveals that 16 intimidating acts against local administrators and public administration staff have been recorded in the Mantova area between 2010 and 2025. Two of these incidents occurred in the last year in the municipalities of Borgo Mantovano and Roncoferraro.

Lombardy has emerged as the most affected region in Central-Northern Italy, with threats rising by 58% in 2025, reaching 30 cases compared to 19 the previous year. This trend contrasts with the national average, which saw a 6% decrease. The report highlights that election campaigns, particularly between March and June, represent the period of highest risk for mayors, councilors, and public employees, as pressures are often used to influence political choices or force withdrawals.
