Mantova and Villacidro commence major urban renewal projects
On Saturday, July 11, Mantova inaugurated a comprehensive urban renewal that refurbished Via Luzio, Via 8 Marzo and the intersection of Via Ariosto and Via Scalarini. The €2.102 million scheme, jointly funded by the Lombardy Region (€1 million) and the municipality, added a new protected bike‑pedestrian lane, widened carriageways, removed old barriers, installed modern lighting, video surveillance and upgraded pedestrian crossings.
Two days earlier, Villacidro began work on Piazza Zampillo and the nearby Rio Fluminera channel. Mayor Federico Sollai said the project is a strategic investment to address longstanding structural issues, improve safety and enhance the town’s resilience. Traffic restrictions, including parking and transit bans, were imposed while the works, scheduled to run until 8 September, aim to deliver a safer, higher‑quality public space for residents.
