Mantova police arrest 25-year-old after hospital assault

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Mantova following a violent spree that involved assaulting police officers and causing damage at a hospital emergency room.

The incident began on Friday evening when State Police intervened in a reported dispute in the city center. Officers identified a man who appeared intoxicated and provided dubious identification, leading them to take him to the police headquarters for identification. Once there, the individual resisted physically, engaged in self-harm, and attacked officers with kicks and punches.

After being transported to the Poma hospital emergency room by medical personnel, the man’s violence escalated further. He reportedly tore out his IV drip and attempted to charge toward the triage area, during which he pried a glass door loose, causing it to fall on an officer's head. Police eventually used a taser to subdue him. The injured officers sustained injuries expected to heal within seven days.
