MantovaFilmFest honors Luchino Visconti in 19th edition

The 19th edition of the MantovaFilmFest has launched with a special tribute to the legendary Italian director Luchino Visconti. The festival's retrospective section honors the 120th anniversary of his birth and the 50th anniversary of his death.

The opening event featured a restored screening of the 1963 masterpiece ‘Il Gattopardo’, provided by the Cineteca di Bologna. The festival includes over thirty screenings across various venues, including the Cinema Mignon and the Museo Diocesano.

In addition to the Visconti retrospective, the festival features several distinct categories: a competition for Italian debut films where the audience votes for the winner, a ‘Filmdoc’ section showcasing five new documentary films, and an international debut section featuring foreign productions in their original language.
