Mantovan woman arrested after fleeing SP62R collision

A 43‑year‑old woman from Mantova drove a vehicle without a valid licence or insurance on the provincial road SP62R near the Tagliata round‑about in Guastalla. The crash injured a 48‑year‑old man, who was treated for injuries expected to heal within a week. Instead of stopping to assist, the driver fled the scene. Carabinieri from the Boretto station reconstructed the incident using video‑surveillance footage and data from automatic licence‑plate readers, which identified the vehicle that had previously been seized for lack of insurance. The woman was later located, presented herself to the Carabinieri, and was charged with hit‑and‑run, failure to render assistance and causing personal injury, as well as driving without a licence.

The investigation highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated traffic‑monitoring systems and led to the issuance of a formal denunciation to the Reggio Emilia prosecutor’s office.
