Manuel Adorni faces investigation over Bitcoin assets and wealth

Federal prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita is expanding an investigation into former official Manuel Adorni for alleged illicit enrichment. The probe aims to reconstruct the economic history of Adorni and his wife, Bettina Angeletti, from the start of their professional activities.

Central to the investigation is the origin of approximately $591,544.61, which Adorni claims was obtained through the liquidation of Bitcoin between 2014 and 2018. Adorni's defense has identified eight specific Bitcoin addresses to justify these funds, asserting that the omission of these gains in previous sworn declarations was an involuntary oversight.

To verify these claims, the prosecution has requested technical cryptographic verification of the digital wallets. This process will involve a cryptographic expert from the Argentine Federal Police using digital message signatures to confirm the authenticity of the transactions. Additionally, Pollicita has requested the lifting of banking and tax secrecy for the couple and has sought employment and property records from ANSES and real estate registries covering the period between 1998 and 2011.
