Manuel Adorni under investigation for alleged illicit enrichment

Federal prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita is investigating former Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni for alleged illicit enrichment. The investigation focuses on the justification of Adorni's assets, specifically regarding eight self-custody cryptocurrency wallets through which approximately USD 591,000 circulated. While Adorni claims ownership via private keys, investigators are working to verify if he was the actual owner during the transactions.

Adorni's defense asserts that he invested nearly USD 200,000 in Bitcoin in 2017 using inheritance and labor income, which grew to over USD 591,000 upon sale the following year. The defense maintains these funds remained outside the formal financial system until his arrival in government in December 2023. Authorities are also scrutinizing expenditures related to real estate in Indio Cuá, an apartment in Caballito, and various renovations, noting discrepancies between declared costs and contractor reports.
