Manuel Añorve expresses interest in Guerrero governorship

Senator Manuel Añorve Baños has expressed interest in seeking the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) nomination for the governorship of Guerrero. While Alejandro Bravo Abarca, the state PRI president, identified Añorve as the only one to have formally manifested his intention to participate, Añorve noted that he is among three figures—including Bravo Abarca and Deputy Pilar Vadillo—who have expressed aspirations for the position.

Añorve, a lawyer and academic with a background in public administration, stated that he intends to respect official electoral timelines and party calls for candidates. He emphasized his long-standing social work and connections with various productive and tourism sectors as the basis for his political ambitions.

Meanwhile, the state PRI leadership reported a significant increase in party affiliation, noting approximately 14,000 new members and expecting an additional 5,000 shortly. The party has also expressed openness to former members and civil society organizations joining their ranks.
