Manuel Bompard invites Minister Monique Barbut to LFI summer debate

Manuel Bompard, coordinator of La France insoumise (LFI), has officially invited France’s Minister for Ecological Transition, Monique Barbut, to participate in a debate during the party’s summer universities in Valence.

The invitation follows comments made by Minister Barbut in an interview with Libération, where she stated that although Jean-Luc Mélenchon is ‘not my cup of tea,’ he is the politician who best integrates climate issues into his economic and social proposals. Barbut emphasized that climate change consequences will become a primary cause of social injustice, particularly for outdoor workers.

Bompard expressed that a debate between Barbut’s proposals and Mélenchon’s ecological program would be beneficial for the country, despite acknowledging that they may not agree on all points.
