Manuel “Ciclón” Echeverría Stadium renovation set for October 30 opening

The modernization of the Manuel “Ciclón” Echeverría Stadium in Navojoa, Sonora, is entering its final stages. Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño announced that the facility is scheduled for official inauguration on October 30, coinciding with the first home game for the Los Mayos de Navojoa baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League.

The renovation project involves an investment of 200 million pesos. Key infrastructure improvements include the installation of state-of-the-art synthetic turf, the replacement of all seating, structural reinforcement of the main building, and the implementation of a new storm drainage system to prevent flooding.

While the project was originally intended to be completed before the start of the league season, heavy rains following Hurricane Polo necessitated a rescheduling of the final works. To ensure all systems are fully operational, the state government will conduct two trial games as a general rehearsal before the official opening.
