J. J. Spaun wins BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club
American golfer J. J. Spaun won the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club, securing his second DP World Tour title. Spaun finished at 17-under par after a decisive final round featuring four birdies in his last five holes.
The victory was marked by high drama on the closing holes. Spain’s Manuel Elvira, who held the lead for much of the final day, appeared to be in contention after an eagle on the 17th hole. However, a double-bogey on the 18th hole dropped him to a tie for second place at 15-under par.
Spaun shared the runner-up position with several prominent players, including major champions Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, and Aaron Rai. The win serves as a personal statement for Spaun, who noted that being left off the U.S. Presidents Cup team provided additional motivation to perform.
