El Salvador economic crisis cited by FMLN leader Manuel Flores

Manuel Flores, Secretary General of the FMLN, has raised alarms regarding the worsening economic situation in El Salvador. He highlighted recent fuel price increases, noting that gasoline and diesel costs are rising, with some prices approaching $5 per gallon. Flores also warned of potential increases in the price of tortillas due to ongoing droughts affecting agricultural production.

Flores criticized the current administration for a perceived lack of measures to counter the crisis and noted a decline in foreign investment, citing the departure of companies such as IUSA as evidence of job losses.

In addition to discussing the national economy, Flores detailed how the FMLN intends to fund its activities and its 2027 electoral campaign. He stated that party members and supporters are organizing grassroots fundraising efforts, such as food sales, to generate resources. He further challenged the government's claims regarding international financing, arguing that such funds are not free.
